I have this wonderful friend who is the queen of frugal chic. She recently complimented my idea for organizing jewelry. When Meredith compliments my style and ingenuity, believe me, I walk a little taller all day long! ;)
Y'all know I make jewelry. I have millions of beads all over the house. My earring collections were starting to take over my junk drawers. Yes, I admit it, I have 18 a junk drawer. And, when I needed to show my work, I couldn't just bring them in a bunch ziplock bags.
Have y'all priced jewelry organizers? Don't, it is frightening. I had to take matters in my own frugal hands...
You'll need a picture frame, a fabric remnant, a 1/2 yard of tulle and your trusty glue gun.
I found this frame at a garage sale for $1.25. Rip that back right off. Throw away the glass. and heat up your trusty glue gun.
Simply glue the fabric to the back of the cardboard. The front side will be flat and smooth. The back will be all messy and gross. That's OK.
No one will ever see the back. I have way too many kiddos to try to make everything perfect. ;)
Nice, huh?
You can hang your display and pat yourself on the back. Look out, Martha!
See how the earrings are held in place by the tulle cover? That's why the tulle gets wrapped around last!
Now, what was that big pink Loch Ness monster?
Hope you like the idea!
Love to you, Fussy

Are ya in the mood for some shameless self-promotion?
You are? GREAT!
Valentine's Day is less than a month away. Wouldn't it be a great idea to email your Lesser Half Hubs a site link so he can order the perfect gift for you?
Just send him to my design blog and tell him which piece you want for Valentine's Day!
You can email me secretly to make sure he got it right. ~wink, wink~ We can make sure it's just what you want! ;)

Great idea...My earrings continue to be a jumble - I currently have some stored in an orange, circa 1974-ish, owl earring stand...it's tipsy and hideous - I definitely need to try the frame idea - thanks!

By the way, I've really been enjoying your blog.

Hey there gorgeous . . . I've been meaning to email you and let you know how BEAUTIFUL my jewelry is, but I've been a little under the weather, plus I'm just lazy like that. Anyway, this way I can publicly testify to the absolute loveliness of Fussy jewelry. Thank You!

Great idea for the earrings! I rigged something similar last week for my necklaces :)
Posted by: Angella | January 16, 2008 at 12:49 PM
Well, you crafty & creative mamacita. I'm hiding in my closet I'm so ashamed at my lack of creativity.
Posted by: Anglophile Football Fanatic | January 16, 2008 at 01:01 PM
How awesome is that?!? I am so not crafty, but I know I can make that. And my daughter is in DESPERATE need of some earring storage. Thanks for the idea! Now where did I put my glue gun...
Posted by: amy p | January 16, 2008 at 01:24 PM
That's a great idea. And it will look smashing in my daughter's room. I'm soooooo going to do that.
If my arms were long enough, I'd reach right out and rub that cute little pregnant belly of yours!

Lovin' that Baby Bump! Lovin' you too, of course, Fussy!
Posted by: Heather | January 16, 2008 at 02:51 PM
That's precious. Since I own a grand total of 1 pair of earrings, I don't think I could use it... but it gives me GREAT gift ideas!!
Those earrings are so cute!!
Your belly, oh honey... you are too darn precious. The pink loch ness? Not hardly. You look like a little girl with a volleyball under her sweatshirt. Too cute~!
Missed ya!

Dearest Fussy,
Go-jus earrings!!
One suggestion - don't throw out the glass that came with the frame - save it and tape the edges with duct tape. It makes a perfect glass mat that you can use with your Xacto knives if you are cutting paper or matboard - you get much smoother cuts than using a self-healing mat.
If you like a more "industrial" look, use window screening (available by the yard) at your local home improvement/hardware store for the insert to hold the earrings.

I like the idea a lot. Do you have any creative ideas for earrings with backs? I have lots of studs that tend to just get jumbled in a drawer, and I'd love to find a good way to display them.
Posted by: Emily | January 16, 2008 at 04:15 PM
Beautiful display and oh my gosh your belly is adorable and your bum is normal size not pg-huge you lucky adorable gal you!

What a neat and stunning idea! I was in the need for more jewelry storage ideas, so this is great. Thanks!
Posted by: Meg | January 16, 2008 at 09:41 PM
See, I need to come over and rub that belly.
Plus, I have to confess that I was all, "What the HECK is tulle??"
AND look who's got "I surf too much" syndrome! ACK! I had it horrible at the end of my pregnancy with Braden. I feel for you, sweetie, that bites. :-(

I love this, how original and cute. I may copy this for my next dressing room. I have so much random crap that I dont wear because I dont see it properly. This would give me options, in my face.

Look at you and your adorable, i-can't-believe-it's-your-fifth, baby! :)
