I have asked so much of you, my Friends of Fussy. You have voted, added, named children after me and tattooed my cartoon face on your left buttock. The Friends of Fussy are the best ever!
I love to make jewelry. Unfortunately I am the world's worst business woman. My habit of selling it at cost and/or giving it away has halted the whole entrepreneur gig, much to Mr. Smartypants' dismay. I finally realized that when I think of jewelry as a 'job' it just wasn't as much fun. I love to give, to see eyes light up and celebrate friendship. That is where my joy comes from when I design each piece.
So celebrate this most wonderful week with me and join in the new giveaway! You don't need to do anything at all to win. Simply enter by joining in and leaving a note in the comments.
I love to hear from you all every single day. Today let's make the comments about something you love: a favorite quote, motto, book, song, new food, shade of lipstick, movie, CD. You decide what your entry will be! I'm sure everyone will have fun, and pick up some favorites.
The wonderful winner will receive a piece from my custom photo jewelry collection.
This is the Megan necklace. I will turn your favorite photo into a wonderful little work of art!
The winner will be announced on Monday. In the meantime, I am excited to see everyone's favorites.
Love, Fussy

Hi, I just found your site on the Nesting Place blog roll. I just saw Juno with a group of girlfriends tonight and I loved it. The movie is great but sitting with five friends and a theater packed full of women (seriously, I only counted 4 men) was the greatest. We ranged in age from teenagers to "well seasoned" but we laughed at the same things, cried at the same things and it was just wonderful. I loved that experience.

I love the earliest spring breezes, when the air is newly warm and my bones are still shaking off the winter cold. I love the smell of lemon oil when my house is freshly cleaned and the way my blankets feel against my cheek when I lay down to sleep at night. I love books...Anne Lammot and Georgia Heard and Augusten Burroughs and Barbara Kingsolver. I love learning new things and hanging out with old friends. And I love this little idea of making a MEME out of your comments section. Enjoy!

I also am a bad business women because, like you, I would much rather help people, give away stuff, and not mark up my product so much (say bye-bye to profits). But I do love it when I help a customer find that perfect dress or top or help them with a styling issue. I also love Napoleon Dynamite :)

I have two favorite quotes -
"If you try and fail, at least you'll know you've tried. If you don't try...you'll always wonder if you'd have succeeded." ~A certain actor from the final cast of CATS on Broadway. A darling and BIG inspiration to me.
AND
"I do not wish to treat friendships daintily, but with the roughest courage. When they are real, they are not glass threads or frost-work, but the solidest thing we know." ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson
Posted by: Sadie | January 26, 2008 at 09:07 AM
Quote that is making me laugh:
"Is that a dagger I see before me, Pilgrim?" (If John Wayne did Shakespeare. Part of a Robin Williams schtick from the 80s - Prompted by me walking downstairs and seeing Scout and Alex watching Rio Bravo this morning.)

I love your necklaces! Such great stuff.
My new dirty little pleasure since I had to give up coffee when I got pregnant is once a week I go get a decaf nonfat latte at Starbucks. For some reason decaf tastes awful at home but (and it might be the deprivation talking) the decaf there is heavenly. I'm also obsessed with Whole Foods Oatmeal Raisin cookies. They are the best cookies I've ever tasted. If it was closer and they were a little cheaper I would never run out of them!

And in thy store there be but left
Two loaves, sell one and with the dole
Buy hyacinths to feed thy soul."

I've carried that as a reminder to myself for over forty years. It lifts my heart when times are heavy. But enough about me... You go Girl... made the finals in the Bloggies. I've voted today already. Just came to give you an "Atta Boy Girl" on being recognized...
Go vote everybody!!!

How could I not come stop by a blog run by a Mrs. Fussypants?! I too am a boy mama who homeschools, and has aspirations of being a glamorous housewife ala June Cleaver or Samantha Stevens. Just when you think you're all alone.....
I love that piece of bling you are trying to give away! Some lucky girl is going to be very happy with that. I'd enter, but since I'm just a newbie here, I wouldn't want to take the chance to win away from someone else. I did that once on another site-- won a fab. bracelet, and now I'm afraid to go back to that blog for fear of being tarred and blog feathered by the regular readers. Eek!
Have a great weekend and thanks for bringing a smile to my face!

Here's one of my favorite quotes, and it ties in with what you wrote (again, probably to Mr. Fussypants' dismay!). It's from Cross Creek by Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings:
"It is more important to live the life one wishes to live, and to go down with it if necessary, quite contentedly, than to live more profitably but less happily."
Posted by: Jennifer | January 26, 2008 at 11:04 AM
I am the same way...I give away my photos and take portraits gratis and whatnot. My hubs is not thrilled, either.
Something I love: the sound of my children laughing together. It doesn't get much better than that.

Oh, and some writer said "Every minute you are angry is sixty seconds you are choosing not to be happy" or something similar. I like it. Not that I have anger issues and visit cutting edge anger management therapist Newton Hightower frequently or anything.

My second favorite event: The monthly Moms' Night Out I attend. We go out for a nice dinner together and gab about anything and everything. It's nice to not always feel like a mom.

Hi Fussy!! I'm new to your blog; I just found you a few days ago. You make me laugh so much!! (and congrats on the impending arrival. I love babies!)
My fav lipstick is Burt's Bees shimmer in Raisin. It's the only makeup I ever wear.
My fav chicken is Zsa Zsa, my haughty black Australorpe. She's such a diva!!
My fav child is the baby, because he's the only one who hasn't drawn on the table with the Sharpie this afternoon. And he's not old enough to take scissors to his own hair. Yet.
My fav Verse is 'Greater love has no man than this: that he lay down his life for a friend.'
My fav coffee is Texas Pecan, by HEB.
My fav person is my husband, for many reasons. Not the least of which is that he just bought me a new tiller. And I didn't even have to beg or hint for it!! (Although, I did tell him that the tomatoes would taste better this summer if I could till in some of our compost, and not just spread it on top of the soil! Never underestimate a man's love of homegrown heirloom tomatoes.)
My fav song is Come Thou Fount Of Every Blessing. Um, and SexyBack. Don't tell my husband, please.
My fav thing to do is cook. I love it. So does my family.

Fussy, I have the perfect picture of my boys that would be... well... um... perfect in one of your gorgeous creations.
My comment today is about how much I need to spend less time on the computer, at blogs, making comments and editing photos. Please tell me that you go to bed hating yourself some nights because you know you spent too much time online? Or am I the only one? Sometimes I have to really give myself a hefty kick in the pants and remind myself that my time with my children, when they are still children is so short and I will never look back and think, "I should have worked harder on that blog and tried harder to be more of a bloggy queen..." Man... I'm a downer but I'm just putting it out there because it's too easy to get caught up in all of the blogging mindset that makes me want to be everybody's bff.
There's my comment. Sorry for being a downer. :^( I've just been feeling it deeply lately. No matter how many comments I get or how crazy my hit counter goes, it is never enough and I'm only satisfied for a minute and then I feel the need to do more. I need balance. Real badly!
