Fussy Fights the Flu
I admit it. I met my match. His name is Mr. Flu Enza. He knocked me out.
Considering I am about 54 months pregnant, I can take very few medicines that actually relieve any symptoms.
When I need medical advice I call my close friend and his amazing eyebrows, Dr. Mehmet Oz. He told me to grab a Neti Pot and irrigate my sinuses. He said this would keep that recurrent sinus infection away.
No, I am too vain to post a picture of myself. This one is much cuter. Be warned, the neti pot filling your nose feels very much like you are trying to slowly drown yourself. Warm salt water goes up and cleans your brain sinus cavity of all gross stuff.
I had a clean nose, still feel like death warmed over had a fever, and wild kids with no one to watch them. Hubs is in Seattle, WA. (Sup Flinger, Naners, BFF!)
The four boys are in some stage of sorta-sick, very-sick, sick with cabin fever and the last one is doing his best impression of a pain in the neck.
If anyone can find a S.W.A.T. team for help I would be so grateful.
Send them to:
Mrs. Fussypants House, just look for toy swords and old french fries in the driveway. Follow the sounds of flu induced crying tantrums, SpongeBob and nebulizers. You will find Fussy hiding under a blanket on the couch with one or more sons perched on top of her.
PS- bring hand sanitizer!
Love, Fussy
~~Don't Forget- Tomorrow is Fight the Frump with Fussy!~~~

it took me years but I finally discovered a neti pot a few years back.
I swear when Im sick ---were it legal--Id marry the thing.
feel better, Fussy.
this flu is BAD!

Oh No! Lord have mercy on you girl. Do you have a cage or something for the boys? I keep wanting to invent those big hamster balls (that sounds bad, but stay with me) the spherical things you put your hamster in and let him run around the house in a neat little sphere with air holes so that he can pee all over your carpet through the little air holes. Only bigger. Only for boys so that they cannot make physical contact with each other. So they can run all over. Hopefully, they won't pee through the air holes. But then you could take a nap. Ya, I'll get on that and send 4 over...

I love HRH's invention idea! I'll buy one for you, Fussy.
((hugs))

Aw, I'm so sorry you're sick. My whole family had it last week, and it was indeed miserable. I feel your pain. We'll say some extra prayers for Mrs. Fussy and the Fussy Bunch today.

I have to say I just love your graphics! I found you a while back through WFMW. I hope that you are feeling better soon!

I am so sorry you feel bad. :( I am not that far away if you need anything, just yell really loud and I will bring you what you need. Or at least I will find someone in Nashville to bring it to you. ;-)

Poor girl!! I imagine being 54 weeks pregnant all in itself must be agonizing! :p
Feel better soon doll.
*This is Honeybell not getting over the fact that the woman is SMILING as she pours liquid up her nose*

Oh you poor thing. I've become a bit of a hermit to avoid getting that nasty flu. I threatened my husband when he said his throat was scratchy that he better stay in a hotel before he brought that funk home to his daughter and pregnant wife. So far, so good.
Can't imagine how awful you must feel. But I'm curious if the netti pot worked because I'm quite skeptical of it.
Feel better!

54 months pregnant.. LOL sorry that made me laugh.. those last months did me in too!!
I hope you feel better girl..

I'd offer to have your back, but Mr. Flu Enza is involved with me as well. That irrigator thing actually worked? I'm all for trying it, but I'm afraid some of the ick will accidentally go down my throat.
Feel better soon!

Feel Better !!
Didn't anyone get the flu shot?
Posted by: Philly | February 28, 2008 at 08:45 AM
Oh honey!
I'm sending you lots of good healthy love vibes. Although we have Pink Eye and Pneumonia over here, so I'm just hoping I don't get sick, too.
Smooches and lots of love darlin'.
You amaze me though, practically dyin' of Flu bug and you still rock the post world!

Oh honey! So sorry.
Hey check my post today - it's a good things-to-do-with-boyz post (but not while you're sick.).

Oh, Fussy, give the kids a vitamin and relax!

Also, a box of bandaids will keep a preschooler busy peeling and sticking for hours, if you are truly desperate.

I'm not convinced that HRH didn't already invent one of those spheres...I think she's holding out on us until Oprah has her on her show.
I hope you feel better soon, and that backup arrives. I'm convinced the flu bug waits until husbands leave town before it zeros in on moms with multiple children.

Bless you lovin heart. Mr.Fussy should be shot for not comming to the rescue. Don't worry I'm here with my gas mask ,soaked in hand santizer. Quit peeking and come out it's okay I'm just a stocker. I'll hog tie the boys. You eat my chicken noodle (get better) soup till he gets home. Don't worry about the dirty tissues I will leave them for the MR.Fussy, he'll take care of them. So you blow all the germs out you can, okay sweetie!

The flu may think that Fussy is down for the count, but wait until the next round. I feel that flu has not heard the last from our super hero.
So, if I use Google satellite will I be able to see the French fries? I mean, Florida's a big place to be going inch by inch, but if you need us I'm sure we could mobilize and find you.
Posted by: MInTheGap | February 28, 2008 at 11:32 AM
EVERYONE is sick. Are germs passed through blogs?
Seriously.
Hope you feel better soon Fussy!
Posted by: Carrie | February 28, 2008 at 12:53 PM
Yes, it is the blogger curse...so many bloggers are sick right now. Fussy, you deserve a mother's helper. Whoever said that above is spot on. Looking forward to fighting the frump tomorrow. Lovez you!

How is it that even when you're sick, you're still funny? I feel your pain! Gov-ment should have a SWAT team on hand at all times for us hard working mommies. Feel better soon! xox

Oh I'm so sorry! Been there, done that.
By the way, my 75-year-old dad is OBSESSED with that freaking neti pot thing. He is now convinced it is the miracle worker medical device and keeps telling me and hubby we need to irrigate our sinuses. ;)
Take care my fine friend! (54 weeks pregnant...snort!)

I am real sorry your sick! If I could make you a big pot of chicken soup and a fresh apple pie I would.... But you live to far away, sorry.
Get Well Soon!

Oh, poor, poor fussy. If I weren't just up the road from Mr. Fussypants, I'd be there in a flash to help you out, well between laying on your kitchen floor dying from the pain of my kidney and whatnot ;)

Fussy, please get better soon! I don't know what I would do without your funny posts!! If I lived closer I would offer to come over and babysit--I need the practice with kiddos! Atlanta is not a close drive to Nashville though. I wish you well!!
Posted by: Reynie | February 28, 2008 at 01:58 PM
Not fun! If I lived closer, I'd scoop up 4 little Indians and leave you to rest. I hope the flu packs it's bags and gets out of Nashville soon.
Posted by: Nancy | February 28, 2008 at 02:12 PM
hugs and smooches to you. But not real ones, because I'd give you another virus you'd have to deal with... ACK

I dunno if you can take it while prego but I always take Oscillococcinum when I get the flu, it helps a ton. It's homeopathic so very safe, but never been prego so no idea about homeopathic stuff when you are.

Oh..feel better! When I went to the ER last week, they told me to get a netty pot too. I was all sorts of freaked out over it, but if Dr. Oz recommends it, well I guess I'll have to try. And since you are such a fan (as I am)..do you pick up Oprah and Friends on satellite radio? Highly recommended.
Posted by: Angela | February 28, 2008 at 05:49 PM
So sorry you are not well - feel better soon... That neti pot fascinates me - I think I shall have to look into that some more...

Feel better soon Fussy! Ask your OB if you can use the Zicam decongestant spray - mine said ok and it saved me during a nasting bout of the crud. Keep on with the neti pot too, it is fabu!

Hi Fussy, I'm a new reader to your blog. Just had to say we spent several delightful weeks in Nashville at the Residence Inn while we adopted Son #2 (2005) and Son #3 (2006). Both boys were born in Memphis but Nashville is closer, driving-wise, to Ohio so (after we picked up babies from the Med)we stayed there until the states worked out their paperwork.
Residence Inn treated us like royalty both times and spoiled us all rotten. We also found a tacky but yummy bbq place (bar b cuties?) that always helped us out on those long nights with three boys under three.
Our favorite adventure was to the Aquarium Restaurant; what a delight!
We hope to return to Nashville once everybody's potty trained... unless God provides us another baby from Memphis :-)

We just got over the flu too! All our boys had it - it was horrible. I've never watched so much tv. It will keep you sane, and look on the bright side - maybe you'll lose a couple pounds! Dee

If you move to Seattle I will have to come visit you this summer. You won't mind if a family with four boys drops by would you? I thought not.
;^P

I'm sorry you're sick. Hope you're better soon. Those nasal irrigators really do work, but it's not pretty. Even so, my family seems to think it's crazy good fun to come watch Mommy blow her brains out (so to speak.) I need to get a lock on that bathroom door.

Ugh! hope you feel better soon. I too have recurrent sinus infections and besides neti pot stuff have had good luck doing steam inhalation with tea tree and ecalyptus essential oils (a couple drops each in small pan of steaming water, not boiling unless you want to cook yourself like lobster!). It makes your eyes water but the ecalyptus opens stuff up and the tea tree kills off the bad guys. I think it's ok to use during pregnancy...at least I did and my little guy came out just fine.

Get better, hon! If you were HERE instead of THERE I could help. :: hint hint :: ;-)
