Fight the Frump- Summer Dresses
Have y'all heard I just had a baby? He is lovely, and he is recovered from his illness- thanks for asking! ;) I hate to admit this due to my own vainity, but gee whiz, I am still huge. The fifth pregnancy just did me in, y'all, I swear. So, while I am trying to lose the extra 30 20 10ibs. I have been thinking so much about finding flattering clothing. My sweet friend, Ali wrote a great article on Blissfully Domestic on finding great clothes to wear. It is a great resource!
I have always loved dresses. Sure, at first thought they seem hard to wear, but I promise they are so not, except for when you need to nurse a baby, then they are a hassle.
High-waisted, A-line dresses are the most flattering thing I have ever found. Remember Laura Bennett from Project Runway a few seasons ago? I learned all about dresses from her! The way dresses fall over my rolls teeny-tiny bit of extra wieght is so much more flattering than stuffing myself in huge shorts and Tshirts. Trust me, I've seen myself in them, it's not pretty!
So, how about some virtual shopping with me? Here are some inexpensive, cute spring dresses I found and loved! I much prefer some preppy Lilly Pulitzer dresses (swoon) but who has that extra bank to spend?
Clinton & Stacey swear a wrap dress will do wonders!
I know, the cheese factor of this post is through the roof. I hope Mr. Linky works for y'all, I am future posting because I will be off-line this weekend. Have a happy and wonderful July 4th!
Love each and every one of ya, Fuss

Wow - I'm first again! I love me some dresses - they're AWESOME when trying to get to church on time on summer mornings. My post this week showcases my new 'do!

I also like the dress for hiding a multiple of sins. Plus they are quick and easy to throw on. But like Summer, I also cop the: Why are you dressed up? comments. Even though my dresses are less expensive than jeans and shirts my friends are wearing. Also, I can never quite pull off the jeans look. Think my legs are too short. Long live the dress!

I only wish I could find a dress that cute that fits... high waist do NOT look good on me. I'm a relatively normal body, but apparently have a large distance from the top of my shoulder to my boobs. (don't ask) so that "high waist" seam usually ends up around the mid-book area. Or else I'm flashing the world with that crossover top. Not pretty.
A lines and V-necks are my friend... now if only the fashion industry would give us more choices rather than sticking with one style every year.

Oh, I LOVE the pick one. The cut at the top is just beautiful!

Uh, that would be the pink one, not the pick one. Sorry!

Ah summer dresses. I've always had difficulty in finding summer dresses that I like and that look nice on me. Having somewhat flabby arms makes me feel self-conscious about dresses without sleeves of any kind. Ya know, the wiggly, jiggly stuff when ya wave your arms? Ugh....
I'm also more inclined to buy clothes that don't have flowers plastered all over the place, but I'm more into the "tailored" look, solid colors etc. I'll be shopping for some of those this weekend, and hopefully will bring me a couple/few not-so-frumpy dresses to enjoy over the summer.

Wrap dresses and shirts with a bit of a V neckline flatter tummy flab, IME.
I think the brown dress all the way to the right could work too. And check Eddie Bauer's summer sale if you have not already.

Also, the EB wrap style ts pair nicely with a pretty skirt. I own several of them. The selection and color choices atm are a bit sparse, but these are an EB staple, and I'm sure they'll have more for fall. They're a bit longer than most ts too---almost a short tunic length.

Haven't purchased a dress in at least a decade. Lots of skirts.

Some of those dresses are very cute! Hope you have a great day !

Those dresses are darling! I just spent my weekend trying on dresses that went on sale at the store I work at. It was fun, too bad none of them fit me right. But I got some cute shirts, that counts for something right?

Oh, I LOVE summery dresses! Being the most dressy person in the grocery store makes me feel a bit funny, though.

LOVE summer skirts. This may sound dorky but I have a silk wrap around skirt from ages ago that I still wear. (Ok. I used to be really loose at the waist but not anymore... BUt anywho...)BUt its ankle length and so light weight. Its cooler than shorts and? HIDES the cottage cheese thighs. Am in the market for about 6 more so I can wear them constantly.
So yeah, am totally with you on the dress thing.
